Besides like, maybe the pledge of allegiance, how do you think American and non-American oath swearing practices differ?

Most Commonwealth countries allow people to "affirm" or "attest" in the place of an oath, if they are uncomfortable swearing oaths either due to their religious beliefs, or due to their lack of religious beliefs.

Yes, Virginia, there ARE Xians who refuse to swear an oath on a Bible, and I am one of them.
