I've only seen one random episode of Supernatural, but I was under the distinct impression that they killed off EVERYONE in that show.

True--but it's notable in this case in that Charlie is (was D:) their only surviving female character and their only queer character and just generally a favorite of the fans and an important person such that killing her off was reaLLY uncalled for (except in that it generates angst for the male leads, which, after all, is the point of the show by now).

Fridged, eh? A shame, but not really much of a surprise, from what I've heard about Supernatural. Probably just as well I never watched it.

They're pretty egalitarian when it comes to killing off Random Extra of The Week, but they kill off female characters who are actually involved with the plot with an alarming regularity.

It's become a bit of a joke now, guessing how long any new female character will live.

Like, KILLED killed or wink-wink-nudge-nudge-she'll-be-back killed? I thought I remembered one of the powers that be saying that she was more or less off-limits for death, but I suppose they can change their minds about that.
