There's a way to cut down the number of tags.

Log in to your AO3 account and go to "My Preferences" where there's a ticky box to "Hide Additional Tags". That gets rid of most of them, and you can still show them on a fic-by-fic basis.

This has saved me a world of irritation and eye strain.
