Maybe I just suck at reading graphs because this was very confusing for me, lol.

Fandoms can surprise you, though. The ones you didn't have much interest in can become your favorites and the ones you were hyped up for can turn out to be completely disappointing.

Just out of curiosity, do you have examples of ones that you were hyped for but turned out completely disappointing?

The big one (keep in mind I mean fandom and not source material!) is the MCU to be honest. I did get into Winter Soldier for the Steve/Bucky, but any other time I've dipped my toe in that fandom I was disappointed. Even when people write pairings I like they've often the opposite of what I want (Thor/Loki being the perfect example of this), so besides reblogging gifs or art now and then I don't have much to do with the fandom.

I hate it! I want to be more involved, but I swear almost everytime there's a new movie there's an explosion of a pairing I don't like or a character I'm tired of and I just ugh out.

Makes sense to me. And MCU is one of those fandoms with a LOT of bandwagon-jumping and stranglehold fanon and assumptions, and if they don't appeal to you it could be pretty goddamn annoying.

Yea, MCU fandom tends to find something and stick with it, so even with the stuff I like I eventually get bored with it.

I've been in plenty of massive fandoms before so that isn't the problem, but I find it underwhelming.

Oh yes, this so much.
