I can't help but be a little bothered by people who complain to fan artists (and fan fic writers, to an extent) the moment they stop drawing/writing X series and/or Y pairing. Even worse is when those types of people trash the new thing the artist/writer likes or make passive-aggressive statements, as if that's somehow going to convince the artist/writer to go back to it at the drop of a hat. Never understood that mindset.

I hate that too. I've seen it turn artists so off their old series that they won't draw for it again, ever, or even talk about it anymore.

That's pretty much what happened to me at least once. I got so much flak from people after I'd switched to Old Republic and Guardians of the Galaxy fan art after a stint with Green Lantern (that didn't exactly come at a good time for me, emotionally, I admit), it permanently poisoned the well for me so far as GL/GL Corps is concerned. :/

Aw, that's a shame. I admit, I like GL, but if I followed you and you changed, I would get over the disappointment. I mean, you're a person with a life, not someone's art/fic monkey.

That happened to me with MLP. I couldn't please either side, especially when it came to making humanized ponies. I was either racist or too PC, take your pick, even though I was trying to be inclusive.

The big thing that got me was when I did a character that was part Asian and my eyes were a bit slanted. Not caricaturly slanted, but enough to give the impression and part of that was my style. It's very cartoony, so my eyes are simple. I chewed out over that on top of the Bronies hating my black Rarity and Twilight.

I fucking gave up and stopped drawing fanart all together for that show.

Having been on the receiving end of the passive-aggressive style of complaining, I don't get it either.

I understand how someone would feel disappointed that an artist/writer they liked moved on from the fandom they liked, but telling me my work for the new thing is absolute shit while also making backhanded "but your work for your old fandom was amazing so you need to go back to that" really isn't going to endear me to their opinion.
