Re: Freedom from toxic ppl
And then shit hit the fan.
A few months after moving in together, she confesses her love to Miranda. Miranda is straight, and it doesn't go anywhere. Then after THAT, roomie comes out multiple. And her headmate LOATHES me.
Things just got worse after that. They pretty much tried to convince us we couldn't take care of ourself, that only THEY could take care of us, and that we shouldn't tell anyone we were multi, because they wouldn't understand. At the same time, they outed us to facilitate their own coming outs, only to then claim that no, we were just so OBVIOUS, people just couldn't help but realize we were multi!
She then outed us to her dad, who was a tenured prof at the college we were both attending, and told us that he thought we were an axe-murderer and was going to call the mental health police on us.
Finally, we couldn't take the batshit anymore and just moved the fuck out without telling her. We rigged it with the administration and one day grabbed all our boxes and left, not telling her our new dorm. She told us that everyone knew we were crazy, and we spent the last four months of our college education twitchy, paranoid, extremely stressed, and not talking or associating with anyone.
Her headmate also has the dubious honor of being the only person we have ever punched in the face. (Gigi did it.)

(Anonymous) 2015-05-08 02:45 am (UTC)(link)My god I hate people like this. They creep me the fuck out and the whole "You can't take care of yourself! Only I can take care of you!" has always been, in my personal experience, just a way to manipulate and entrap someone. Brrr. *hugs self*
Sorry to hear that you had to deal with that shit.
Re: Freedom from toxic ppl
And seriously, if I can't take care of myself, I GO TO A MENTAL HOSPITAL. Civilians should not take that role.

Re: Freedom from toxic ppl
Calling you all an axe murderer? Really???
Re: Freedom from toxic ppl
And lolz, no, their drama is long behind us; the moment we fucking graduated, we jetted to a whole other hemisphere, made much nicer friends, and then we never returned to that city again. (Well, okay, we spent a couple days there, but that's IT.) And they basically got chased off the multi parts of the Internet for their creepy behavior.
With hindsight, I'm not even sure they really WERE spreading rumors. I suspect a lot of it might have been distortions or lies intending to keep us in line--the weird idea that if we were scared enough, we'd be more dependent on them. Totally backfired though, since we were like, "DUDE. THE COMMON LINK IS YOU."
I mean, we've been multi a long time, and never has anyone guessed it before being told. A lot of people have not been SURPRISED, but multi is rare enough that people's minds don't really jump to it first off, you know? Like, people will think we're having mood swings, or just do lots of weird voices, but they don't go, "UR MULTI!"

Re: Freedom from toxic ppl
Yes. I have post traumatic SERIAL KILLER disorder.
It's funny because I tend to not talk about the duration of my PTSD, so some of the people who were freaking out have actually never known me before I had it. If I didn't kill you when you wanted to listen to One Direction in the car for an hour straight, I'm pretty sure you're safe.
Re: Freedom from toxic ppl
HA. Man, I might have to try a variation of that line at some point, revamped for OUR Dx.
Yeah, same here. We've been multi since we were twelve. There are VERY few people anymore who ever knew us as singlet. Hell, there aren't that many anymore who knew our original! She's been gone a long time, and we've moved around a lot.
As far as I can tell, for lots of people, there are only three kinds of mental illness: the kind that turns you into an axe murderer, the kind that can be cured with meditation and vegetarianism, and the kind that never existed in the first place.

Re: Freedom from toxic ppl
So apparently it's something physically ill or disabled people get too. Still, what a pain. Like, if kale magically saves you, awesome, but not all of us are so lucky. My allergies get cured completely by honey, but that doesn't mean I go around expecting all people to be as lucky as me.
