That really would be nice. I know a friend of a friend that I can't stand talking about tv shows with because she's constantly deciding that some characters are sociopaths without actually understanding how that works. I really hate armchair psychology based on stereotypes of illnesses.

It's usually based on the worst examples of characters that are supposed to be sociopaths, too. Buffalo Bill, Dexter... those aren't even accurate depictions of the disorder!

It makes me a bit mad, honestly. These days I will straight up turn something off if the writers get it wrong or play into tropes when trying to depict mental illness.

Yeah. Like, I can put up with it in some contexts (I have a guilty weakness for playing Badass Loony characters in video games) but multi in particular will make me turn shit off.

Mostly because practically ALL the representation fucking sucks. I have someone with schizophrenia among my tumblr followers, and sometimes we just kvetch about being lumped in together as the axe-murderers of pop culture. (And often mistaken for each other.)
