My actual opinion depends on whether period blood carries bloodborne illnesses. I did a quick search, but couldn't find a valid source either way.

But like any other genital secretions it can also harbour many and various STIs. Menstrual blood is not like urine in terms of sterility.
On the other hand, I have read that it can have a significantly lower viral load than ejaculate if the individual is HIV negative, but that was years ago and I'm not even sure which study it was so trying to dig it up would be a long shot.

And I would assume period blood would carry bloodborne illnesses because it's blood. And anyway it's gross (you wouldn't get your pee everywhere on purpose), it ruins clothes and makes messes that other people will have to clean up.
