Hey guys,

People have been asking for more secrets per post and asking why the subs post is closed and the subs post is filling up really fast and stuff and -- well ok anyway, we decided to up the secret max to 700 a week (starting with the submission post in an hour, which means you'll get to see them a week from now). Which means a couple of things:

A) potentially 100 secrets a post, yay (!!!111!/???/.../eta: HOLY CRAP -- take your pick)
B) we're limiting the file size to 600x600px from 800x800px to cut down on loading times for people (sorry if your secret is already made and ready or something)
C) ???
D) wank profit fandomsecrets

Anyone have any suggestions or questions or problems or anything before we put this into practice?

Note: these posts begin Saturday the 26th and on -- that is, the secrets submitted next week, not this week!

Note 2: If you can, avoid using imageshack.us to host your files! They tend to run out of bandwidth quickly and then your secret can't be seen. If you need other sites to use, tinypic.com and photobucket.com are two more reliable image hosts.

Note 3: It's not actually the dimensions but the file sizes of the images that matter the most regarding loading time -- we're just using the dimensions as a guideline because it's something everyone understands. If you could try to keep the file size of your image as low as possible (save them as .jpg/.gif, not .bmp/.png for example), that would help us out a ton. For those looking for file converters, haruhiism recs this one here.

I kind of just figured 800x800 = 640000, except we're gonna be having twice that number, so it'd be 320000 and the closest to that is 600x600? Uhhhhhhhh do you have a different size you'd like?

It'll probably be less than that, I mean we supposedly have 50 now but it usually gets cut down to like 45 or something because of all the repeats/too big/etc stuff. So I'm thinking it'll realistically be around 90ish?

A) You could break it up into two posts. Just post them at the same time. I doubt anyone would mind it too much, and it would help for slow connections if you do up the nymber of secrets.

B) I don't think it's the dimensions that are the issue--it's the actual file size. Maybe you should stress that people try to optimize their files as best they can. Of course, this might be hard since not everyone knows how to do that, but for those who know how to do it it would probably be a huge help. Seriously, secrets do not all need to be 150k or more. This site (http://www.jpegwizard.com/) is an online jpeg optimizer for people who don't have the software to do it themsleves.

To be honest, I'm really "ehhhh" about 100 secrets a post. 50 already take me 39878947 years to load, I think 100 would make my internet hang itself. But that is just me D8 Perhaps my connection/computer/combination of both fail at life. Even with that aside, I think 50 is good. :|a

I mean.. Maybe a solid 50-75 or so wouldn't be too bad.. But most secrets these days are MANY MANY TEXTS LONG.. xD And I like to read them all.. Or at least the ones that aren't too ugly/dumb/boring/hard to read/same crap over and over..

1. Yes, please break the posts up into two groups. It's already a pain in the ass with 50 in one post- not because of loading times, but the amount of scroll I have to go through.

2. I wonder if there's a way to possibly regulate how we talk about secrets? Like "#36" as opposed to just "36"...because I use the find feature to look for replies to secrets I'm interested in, but I usually find timestamps. God help me if I'm looking for secret #1 replies. Not that I want to be a comment formatting nazi or anything but I think it'd be easier for everyone!

3. This is a shot in the dark but man do I wish there could be a rule against secrets no normal human being can fucking read. (Colors/size/fonts/etc that make it impossible to read easily??)

4. Also a rule against secrets about fandomsecrets those are so goddamn annoying. How many secrets must I read about people being scared of ending up in the not!secrets pile???

5. I think regulating the quality of given secrets a little more to deal with the "too many secrets wut" problem is a little better than "OPEN THE FLOODGATES WOOOO" but since it seems already decided to up the limit, I'm game, just split it in half plz. I'm not about to bitch about RP/shipit secrets or whatever, just. Simple things. Plz more secrets I can actually read without my retinas vomiting blood. Plz less pointless secrets about fandomsecrets that're like "oh no I hate the scrollbar on fandomsecrets" or whatever. Gladly take 20 more "ohno I ship Linebeck & Link i so guilty even though there's FIFTY OTHER PEOPLE LIKE ME" or "FINAL FANTASY 7 SAVED MY LIFE" than that.

ljsecret has size limits of 800x600. I dunno what their post limit is, but there are around 75 posts on a good day. They also have submissions less often. Just an observation, not a judgement.
