They're canon in the comics though I heard? And even the actors in the movie tried to subtly imply it.

I am indifferent about it, but I just think the incest-twins trope is so overdone and dry.

I think that's like saying romance is overdone and dry.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, no. Twins who love each other a little too much is rather more specific than "romance".

People can have preferences, though?

They were canon in Ultimate Avengers which is very, very different from the main continuity because half people in the Ultimate verse were psychopaths or otherwise terrible (Ultimate Spiderman's pretty good though). They were also only canon for like...ten seconds before Wanda was promptly killed off though. I assume they did so because they wanted to be edgy enough to include an incestuous pairing, but not edgy enough to actually have to deal with it for too long

Side note: Their relationship reveal in Ultimates was pretty funny. Cap was, understandably, like "what the fuck is going on here? what?" and Jan was basically treating it as just one more thing that he didn't understand about the future as if he were surprised at something like women having more rights rather than by the fact that he just found out that two siblings were banging each other. Jeez Steve, get with the times

Didn't Wolverine like watch them have sex from some bushes?

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
If he did then I repressed it, but it wouldn't remotely surprise me if he did. That's pretty much how that verse rolled.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-10 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol yeah he did. To make it even worse, he was telling the Avengers all of this right in their living room, RIGHT AFTER Wanda got killed. Because who needs mourning and dealing with the grief of having lost a friend, when you can have spontaneous incest instead.

To be fair, if I was hanging out in some bushes doing whatever Wolverine's do, I may respond the same way.

"Wanda is dead guys." *everyone is quiet and mourning*
*quiet*
*quiet*
*quiet*
Wolverine: So...did anyone else know those twins were fucking each other? Is that a thing everyone knew but me?

ahaha, this is a great post

The Cracked writeup on this storyline is truly marvelous: http://www.cracked.com/article_16230_the-6-creepiest-comic-book-characters-all-time.html

ayrt

Lmao, that's great. I guess Wolverine really did spy on them from the bushes. Sometimes I miss that run...kind of.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-11 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Wasn't that written by Mark Millar? He's a freakin' psycho ball of hate anyway. Maybe he thought that Jan would find it normal, because he hates both Americans and the privileged enough to write a privileged American as a giant pervert. Or maybe he was high out of his gourd.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-11 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
agreed. I've read three books with twin characters this year and surprise! All of them had twincest sex.

I don't have other siblings aside from my twin, but somehow I can't imagine how twins wouldn't be LESS inclined to incest than normal siblings. By now it just feels like fetishizing twins.
