Yes, I know, we're all very sick of hearing about it, but something interesting in my life has just come to light.

I work with a gamer gater.

Holy shit, I actually know one in real life. I mean, I suppose some people must know them in real life, they exist in the real world and all, but they've always just been a sort of online phenomenon as far as I was ever concerned. This just feels very weird.

As for the guy in question - Of course I was a guy. Had to be - he is pretty much the exact type of person you would imagine a gamer gator to be. Fat, powerfully ugly, charmless, and socially unpleasant. Never vocally anti-woman, but you always get the vague sense that he resends women having moved on from the 20's.

Anyway. Yeah, I know one. Any idea what I should do about it? Taking suggestions?

Suggestions I have got so far have a bit of a range, but I will not be doing anything illegal that will get me jail tie if am found out. Like wise I will not do anything that will get him undeserved jail time

AFAIK, Dethtoll doesn't have a real job, he's just a freelance somethingorother, so pretty sure he doesn't have coworkers.

You do nothing. He isn't hurting anyone. And your vague sense is probably pretty damn biased and probably not a vague sense of all.

What do you think you are going to do? Change his opinion? You aren't. You will make him ultra defensive and YOU will look like an asshole for harassing someone.

Just think back to every argument you have online or with a family member over some moral/ethical difference. 99% of the time both groups leave the argument thinking "That person is an idiot who doesn't know what they are talking about."

That is what will happen. You will both get pissed at each other and leave thinking the other is a moron.

Just tell your boss. If they refuse to act threaten to go to the press.

What was suggested that might get you jail time?

Arson, whih is not happening.

Menstruate in his cfee cup was the best suggestion I've had.

Haha. Yes. Send a SWAT team to his home. Maybe his family and dog will be home as well. Maybe they can all get shot. Oh man, if we are lucky maybe a baby will be burnt and killed by a flash bomb!

treat it as you would any other coworker who you disagree with

if you are not a rational person, this means half-listening with their ramblings and not trying to change their beliefs because getting along/tolerating your coworkers is more important than everyone agreeing to what you believe in

TBH this whole gamer gate things has gone over my head and I'm not even sure which 'side' the gamergater is. Someone with free time give me the quickest tldr dotpoint of the 'sides' involved?

Personally, if I came across some unpleasant dude IRL I would ignore the fuck out of him. Bare minimum politeness in social groups and I wouldn't give him leeway to be a dick to me.

Don't do anything that gets either of you jailtime. Unless he is actually doing something illegal, but jfc do not fabricate stuff just because he's a ?sexist dick?

Actually, from what you're writing here, the only one who sounds like a huge fucking asshole that something should be done about is you. If you're not a pathetic troll you're at least a pathetic person. You are actually working with the exact same rethoric a gamergater would use: Baseless assumptions and petty insults based on someone's looks and vague theory on what their opinions are/what group they're affiliated with. So maybe before doing something about that evil gamergater who personally did nothing to ever inconvenience you, you should take a look in the mirror and do something about that rotten character of yours.
