Using the 'they are just words' justification has always baffled me. Words are the basis for laws and contracts and treaties. They are the basis for a great deal of entertainment. They are how most people communicate with others. Words can let other people know what you are thinking. Words are a tool to convince other people to agree with you or to show them how to do something or to show them new ideas. Words are powerful. And words can absolutely hurt. There is no 'just' about them.
