Text: I used to draw gift art for friends and artists I'd admired every once in a while. Like their fan art of their favorite characters, ships, and occasionally an artist's original characters.

But after several artists/fan work creators (ones who I didn't ever draw anything for) started to complain that people only did gift art for them because they felt the giver was expecting something in return. I stopped doing gift art completely, even for my own fandom friends.

I only did stuff for others because I wanted to make them happy, not because I wanted anything in return. But I didn't - and don't - want someone to feel uncomfortable, either.

picture totally unrelated, but it fit.
