I've definitely seen some people claim that some characters are trans and actually a different gender than what's presented in canon. Like I've seen people say that Hiccup from HTTYD, or Steven Universe, are actually trans girls and should be referred to with "she/her" pronouns.

Which feels a bit uncomfortable, because in both cases, this was based on reasonings like "boys can't be empathetic and prefer pacifistic methods to violence", or in Steven's case also "boys can't cry or be openly emotional, or like pink". With the implications that any boy who does those things, cannot *really* be male. Which just really enforces the kinds of gender stereotypes that affect people negatively.
