Is this the one where you start in a snow-covered town?

If so, it was like FFXII all over again, where having so many places to see and people to talk to intimidated me out of the game. It was too overwhelming for a start of a game!

It does have a very overwhelming start, which normally puts me off games really quickly, but I think it's worth sticking with - about half an hour in, nearly no-one in the town will talk to you and the vast majority of it is blocked off forever. Having spent the first part of the game exploring absolutely every room in every house, I got this huge feeling of claustrophobia which was pretty cool.

I started out strongly disliking the sequel novel, then it slowly grew on me, then I was really into it for a bit, and then it lost me near the end. Some bits were really great - Hiante in Fleeting was probably my favourite part - but a lot of it just seemed pretty average.

I might like it more on a re-read, but the ending of Permanence fell pretty flat for me.

I don't want to say it because the creator a real person that I actually talked to a few time on tumblr (just some ask) but I think it's because the writing is not that good. She's good at short stories but I think she's not that good at writing long ones. So many things was happening in Fleeting but I didn't feel anything, accept maybe the part with Hiante and Richard's ghost. The characterization was the worst, so many people praised Astra but she's just plain and forgettable for me, and I can't tell the two girls in the novel apart. I stopped reading at about half way of Permanence, does she ever address the Erio and Snowe thing? I read some spoilers that they kiss.

I don't know if I'd particularly pick on the writing, but a lot of the new characters introduced didn't really interest me - most of the parts I can still remember clearly now involve Hiante, probably for that reason.
There was definitely a lot of interesting stuff in them, but a lot of the details I wanted more info about were brushed over really quickly. The whole relationship between the Original King and Snowe was fascinating, I wanted more of that! Plus more Relenia pls.

Honestly I can't remember what happened with Erio and Snowe, I wasn't really interested in that part and it was pretty forgettable. I think it's implied they get together, I don't think there was any kissing but there was a lot of snuggling.
