I can imagine all kinds of people accepting boundaries and nos. Heck, if anything, I'd think the 16-year-old in that situation would be the one too horny and obsessive to take "Look, I'm 14 years older than you" for an answer.

(And please don't tell me teenagers never want to bang older people. I did. You did. For further reference, please see... well. Fandom.)

Most adults wouldn't want to spend that much time around a teenager anyway because teenagers ARE immature and they ARE obnoxious and people who are significantly older don't tend to want to put up with that.

The older I get, the less tolerance I have for teenage bullshit. The thought of someone my age voluntarily choosing to hang around a teenager/teenagers in any context beyond familial/work/mentoring etc obligation would make me deeply disturbed.

You don't have that emotional connection to teenagers. If you do, then you clearly never matured past being one.

All of this.

Exactly. I do a lot of work with teenagers (mentoring/volunteering) and they're just on a completely different emotional level than adults.

Now, I could see someone 21/22 or thereabouts being interested in a teenager, because some teenagers are mature and some young adults still aren't that mature, but any older than that? Nope.

So all my memories of being a young teenager and trying to convince older men to leave me alone (while feeling like I couldn't be too rude because they were adults) while they ignored me and I tried to find an excuse and an exit, were actually of me being horny and obsessive and THEM trying to talk me out of it?

The sixty-something decidedly not hot married guy who kept trying to kiss 15yo me at a party while I avoided the heck out of him wouldn't have done it if I hadn't tried to make him, right? Granted, his refusal to take no for an answer probably didn't have much to do with his age, because he tried to make out with my mom, too.

No one's saying there aren't creepy and predatory people in the world. Just that age of consent is more complicated than turning on the Sex Switch on your 18th birthday.
