I am so happy about it. Thor 2 and Cap 2 were so weird because I kept thinking "where are the other Avengers? do they just not give a shit that this stuff is happening? am I supposed to believe that they have better things to do than deal with any of this seriously important stuff going on?" Like, seriously, SHIELD collapses and Tony Stark ... what, went on a vacation?

Once you had an Avengers movie, it became all but nonsensical to make single movies because there is no good reason why these guys would suddenly stop helping each other. I'm glad that Cap 3 will hopefully avoid that.

Thor 2, I can understand. It mostly took place off Earth. The scenes that WERE on Earth happened really quickly outside of the US. By the time Tony/Steve would have gotten there it would be over.

But CA2 and IM3, WHERE THE HELL WAS EVERYONE? Did Steve not think, "Shit. The president has been kidnapped maybe I should help with that."

I was under the impression that IM3, Thor 2, and Cap 2 all were going on around the same time

Based on this (which may not be accurate) they happened months apart. http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/5395/A-Marvel-Cinematic-Universe-Timeline

Around the same time, not on exactly the same day. There is literally no good in-verse reason for Tony not to be in Cap 2, or for Steve not to ask Tony for help.

I'm so late (as usual) but it seemed like IM3 and CA:TWS both took place over only a few *days*. Like - the Mandarin stuff was happening and SHIELD was looking into it and stuff, but then - wham!bam! Happy gets hurt, Tony goes ballistic, his house is trashed. Seemed like from that point on, it was maybe two days, total? *Maybe* three, for all that stuff to go down?

So i can easily see that Cap and Natasha are off in Bulgaria or somewhere, doing some op for Nick and he decides he can't pull them and that Tony and Rhodey are enough. Bruce is still in the wind, and Hawkeye is probably off with Coulson doing something so...makes sense they're not there.

Same for CA:TWS - from the time Cap is attacked in the elevator to the time the helicarriers are launched, it's like - two days. There just isn't *time* for a big op to happen, and maybe Tony was still in his 'no more suits because Pepper' stage, or whatever. I dunno. Movie timelines are *so confusing* most of the time.

That's exactly the way I've seen it. Everything happens so fast, there's no time for anyone else who wasn't already in the thick of things to get geared up and into position to help until the fireworks are already over.

Yeah, I don't think the Avengers knew the events of Thor 2 were happening until they were over.
