No, but some artists de-age the protagonists. And some other artists just happen to have a style that makes all characters' ages ambiguous. There was recently a huge wank (well, it's still going on, but it's quieter now, I think) where some artists who did these things were dogpiled for promoting pedophilia.

Okay, it has literally been years, but I remember the kid!lock stuff as mostly cutesy/innocuous. Has this changed recently?

nope, most of the kidlock stuff is still completely innocuous and the percentage of shota fics and kidlock fics is still about the same with shota fics being like less than 1% of the fics being written.

I like to stay well away from the circles where shota art can be drawn, so I'm not terribly well informed about general tendencies. What baffles me, though, is that the initiators of the wank draw some pretty skeevy things themselves - shippy fawnlock, for example.

Man, I might have stopped reading Ava's Demon a long time ago (I binge read it twice a year if I remember to do so, because it's been moving super slow otherwise), but I've only caught a glimpse of some of the drama going on via the occasional thread on /co/.

I'm not sure what her reputation or personality might have been like before she decided to do her own comic or w/e and if that would be part of the reason why she's garnered herself a hatedom so quickly (and not that it's any of my business), but I don't think she deserves the crap she's been getting.

I wouldn't blame her if she decided to just up and ragequit making Ava's Demon at this point (frankly, I know I would), but considering she quit what some would consider a dream job at DreamWorks Animation to devote herself to her passion project (not to mention the thousands of dollars poured into it via Kickstarter campaigns, et al), the only choice she has now is to stick it out and deal with the petulant little shits to the best of her abilities. An unenviable position, to be sure...

Her hatedom is for two things. Tumblr has a hair across its ass a mile long about not using any ~offensive~ words. She used "virgin" as an insult so she was ~acephobic~ (Doesn't exist, and I say this as an Asexual person) Then she drew an aged up character and she became a ~pedophile~.

Her hatedom are just SJW with way too much time on their hands. They'd be spending their time better if they went after an actual pedophile like Bleedman or something.
