(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)I'm sorry Forever fans have been bitchy about Galavant being saved, but you're wrong. They are connected. Basically, each network can only renew a certain number of shows, and this generally is done by looking at the ratings with respect to each other. Galavant had horrid ratings. Beyond horrid. There is no way it should have been renewed based on those ratings. Forever also had bad ratings, but they were better than Galavant's. Looking at the ratings there is really no reason Galavant should have been renewed. (The network could easily find another "filler" show for when OUaT is on hiatus, and possibly one that got better ratings.) So I can understand why Forever fans might be bitter that Galavant got renewed and their show didn't, even if it sounds like they might not be acting polite in expressing their opinions about it.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)Blame the network heads, not another show. People were literally bitching in a Galavant post and it was beyond obnoxious.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)Agent Carter was in a similar position (and several people had it predicted as likely to be canceled), but it also had being part of the MCU going for it. And honestly? It really wasn't in the same situation at all. Galavant got a .88 rating for one of its episodes. That is lower than at least a couple of shows on the CW, forget on a "real" network. Galavant had a 0% chance of being renewed by several sites, including TVBTN. It is really difficult to fathom why it was renewed; basically, it was a miracle for those handful of fans who watched it.
And that is wonderful for those fans. And I don't blame anyone for the cancellation of Forever (well, other than Nielsen families who didn't watch, but that often happens with shows I like). And I agree that it is obnoxious to go complain about it in a Galavant post. However, your view that they are unrelated is not the case. And that is all I wanted to point out, that there was a connection between the two.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)I probably should have said "it's not as connected as Forever fans think" but I was mainly pissed off that there were a bunch of fans shitting all over Galavant because their show didn't get renewed. It just seemed silly to me because a. it's not like the Galavant production team were sitting there behind the scenes like, "Yeah, let's destroy Forever!" and b. even if there's a connection because only a number of shows get picked up, it still seems silly to blame shows that got picked up for getting picked up.
This secret just reminded me of the behavior of the Forever fans taking out their bitterness on another show, when they should just leave other shows out of it.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)This. If they were on different networks, the person you're responding to would have a point, but since they weren't, they absolutely are connected.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)That said, I don't know anyone who wasn't still shocked by the Galavant renewal. It seemed like most sites predicted both to be cancelled.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)Oh, I'm not saying I was surprised that Forever was canceled. Based on the numbers, I absolutely expected it to be canceled. Even if it had been produced by ABC studios (which I agree makes a difference with borderline/bubble shows). I was just saying that the Galavant renewal with those ratings was shocking (I mean, does anyone expect it will make it to the 88 episodes required to see money back from syndication?), and that it was connected to Forever's status in that I can easily see why people would be bitter about the situation.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-18 02:29 am (UTC)(link)A lot changed when Lost came around, though.
I'm so glad Galavant got renewed, though. Believe it or not, that show is so close to backstage Disney you don't even know. Someone on that show has firsthand knowledge of what goes on back there because I started in theme parks before I moved up and all the drunks, sarcastic princesses, out of breath singers, and poor serfs really capture what cast members do when they are not on stage in a subtle but hilarious (to people in the know) way.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)Ep. 1: 7.42
Ep. 2: 7.42
Ep. 3: 4.11
Ep. 4: 4.11
Ep. 5: 3.42
Ep. 6: 3.42
Ep. 7: 4.38
Ep. 8: 4.38
So, they're pretty much on par with Gotham or Sleepy Hollow (minus that dip in 5-6).

(Anonymous) 2015-05-18 12:03 am (UTC)(link)Actually, in looking at ABCs numbers, even those total viewers aren't good if you discount the first two episodes as people sampling the show and deciding they didn't like it. (Which seems like an accurate view as the next six episodes are fairly consistent numbers.) The viewers in millions for episodes 3-8 are under the average viewer numbers for every show on ABC (including Forever, obviously) except for Selfie, Chrisela, and Manhattan Love Story.
