I'm really bad at spotting them... I remember seing the marauder-one and completely missing the kanji.

I'll get enhanced versions of it and the others later this evening, I mostly want to get this up while some people are still awake.

In looking for that, I found a few other oddities that I want to look at more.

I remember wondering if the "I'm going to save Fandomsecrets" anon was the same one, but that secret is here, and I can't find anything suspicious in it, though I'm going to be looking through the metadate on it and the Riddler!Anon secrets to see if I can't pin down something more than that they were both made in GIMP. https://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/1169801.html#cutid1

I don't think savior!anon ties into this, although associating the riddler with the I'm sorry!anon is fun.

And those are supposed to be related to the japanese captions?

I remember that first one, just ot when it was posted... I looked at the enhanced version back then and thought it looked more like Kanbun/Classical chinese. That or a brush.
And I thought of savior-anon, too, after the second or third one surfaced...

The other ones you're suggesting... I'm not sure. I don't see riddler-anon's MO there... Didn't go through all the failbar-secrets, though. The Charlie one is probably just put on a structured Background. I don't see anything resembling writing there...

There was one about Mickey and Nathan from Hustle and Leverage that had kanji on it if I remember right. Secret was about becoming a con artist or implied that OP was a con artist. Sorry I can't be arsed to hunt it down, but it was some time in the last month.

Looking back over them, I think the first one, about most heinious crime in fandom, that used a kanji brush, wasn't necessarily done by the same person as all the others.

I think someone else noticed people getting in to decyphering the kanji brush, and thought "ha ha why don't I put kanji in my secrets and see if people think there's a riddle to be solved."

That's my theory.
