When people don't talk loud enough for you to hear them, so you either have to keep asking them to repeat themselves (And annoy then) or pretend you know what they said (And possibly make an ass out of yourself).

My mom has gotten worse and worse at this lately, and I don't know what to do. I have pretty excellent hearing as well, but she might as well be whispering and even though I've asked she makes no effort to speak louder. Sighhh

;_; This is one of my pet peeves too. Except it always makes me super anxious when I have to ask a clerk to repeat what do I owe them when I'm buying something.

It's frustrating when family doesn't try to speak up around you.

Yea, I def don't like asking anyone I don't know either; I find it embarrassing. And I feel like most people should know better, too! Not everyone has excellent hearing, so I try to speak up just in case.

my mom does the opposite of this. I'll say something to her and she won't hear me and say "what?" so I'll repeat it VERY SLIGHTLY louder and she'll immediately accuse me of "screaming".

Lmao, Jesus. That's frustrating as hell! You're just trying to be helpful!

My dad occasionally accuses me of screaming, but honestly... He's all but deaf so you do need to speak loudly for him. I'm used to it now.

I have somewhat-worse-than-average hearing and I haaaate it when people don't anunciate or just talk really quietly and don't raise their voice at all after I say I can't hear them.

Whether I ask them to repeat it more than once depends on how important it is.

That's a good point. Sometimes asking for the person to repeat themselves just isn't worth it, but I'm afraid of appearing rude so I usually ask anyway. It's so frustrating though, especially with people who don't like to raise their voices (Or have difficulty for some reason).
