There's an inherent value in people being entitled to the wrong opinion though.

How else do you know they're assholes? How else do you show how fucked up that line of thinking is if you're not letting someone do it? How do you challenge something you're shoving underground? How do you prove "right" if you can't point at an example of "wrong"?

Do you think that "You're not allowed to think that!" is actually going to make people stop thinking bigoted, prejudiced and hateful thoughts? Do you think their feelings still won't manifest in their behavior in other, often more insiduous and far more dangerous ways?

Better have their assholishness out in the open for everyone to see and judge. Because that's the flipside of people being entitled to the wrong opinion; other people are equally entitled to their opinion that those people are worthless, hateful fucks whose opinions mean nothing.
