Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Nooooope.

Kinda sick of this argument. There are some opinions that are just plain wrong.

What opinions do you believe people should not be entitled to?

I'll start the ball rolling with the opinion that non-white people are worth inherently less than white people.

"Entitled" to, as in, allowed to have an opinion without getting arrested, absolutely.

Allowed to have without disagreement, no.

I hate the "opinions" about how we should be tolerant of intolerance. Aka the "I believe gays are going to hell and I actively vote against gay marriage, but when gay people call me a bigot they are being intolerant!"

"Entitled to" in what sense? What should happen to someone who has an opinion you feel they're not "entitled to"?

I actually do believe people are entitled to their opinions but they're not entitled to protection from getting yelled at or other repercussions for said opinions (save arrest or government censorship or the like.)

There's an inherent value in people being entitled to the wrong opinion though.

How else do you know they're assholes? How else do you show how fucked up that line of thinking is if you're not letting someone do it? How do you challenge something you're shoving underground? How do you prove "right" if you can't point at an example of "wrong"?

Do you think that "You're not allowed to think that!" is actually going to make people stop thinking bigoted, prejudiced and hateful thoughts? Do you think their feelings still won't manifest in their behavior in other, often more insiduous and far more dangerous ways?

Better have their assholishness out in the open for everyone to see and judge. Because that's the flipside of people being entitled to the wrong opinion; other people are equally entitled to their opinion that those people are worthless, hateful fucks whose opinions mean nothing.

This one burns me, a child who likes things that doesn't fall in line with the stereotypes of their gender like (a boy liking dolls or a girl liking trucks) is actually genderqueer or transgender.

Nope. That's not how liking things work. To a kid, toys are toys are toys. If it looks like fun to them, they are going to play with it. When they are that young they don't have rigid ideas of what it means to be a certain gender. Now, if a boy says, "I feel like a girl. I don't feel right being a boy," then you may have a case. But if a boy wants to put a barrette in his hair because he thought it looked cute, it may have nothing to do with being genderqueer and everything to do with the barrette being cute and he not knowing that barrettes are seen as a girl only thing.

I see this all the time on tumblr posts. Some parent bragging about how "open minded" they are because the claim they are happy their son or daughter is "trans" or "genderqueer" because that kid likes to play outside what that parent deems gender norms. I can't help but think that these parents are being ironically sexist.

Some people may be doing it to be trendy but some people have been fighting with gender norms every day for years on end, and getting shit for it.

Even if an opinion is wrong, people ARE entitled to have it.

However, I do get annoyed with "well it's my opinion!" being trotted out when someone else tries to argue that that opinion is bigoted, acting on it leads to harm, etc. Of course you're entitled to have it; that's not the point here...
