The secret is to correct in a way that still compliments the person you're correcting. I can get away with something like this most of the time just by acknowledging that the source of the information is wrong and not implying that the individual was wrong for thinking so.

Yeah I've noticed but I tend to focus my efforts on just keeping my mouth shut rather than adjusting the habit. It's frustrating to go from being around people who will let me just happily blurt out something that I think is interesting and wanted to share to being around people who are ready to think I'm trying to prove I'm smarter than them or something, so I kind of just want to avoid the whole thing. Which is weird because normally I have no problem censoring myself and carefully considering my words.
