Yea, same. I don't think OP is the world's biggest asshole or anything, but I'm fine with letting people ship what they want. There are plenty of popular ships in this fandom I don't care about.

I am a C/C shipper who is perfectly fine with Clint's canon family! ... Actually, who really likes them. He deserves a nice normal life!

Of course, I've never actually used C/C as a background pairing in any fic I've written, tagged or untagged (if I'm writing C/C, it's the main pairing, and thus tagged accordingly) so I guess I'm not the irritating kind that you're talking about.

... Of course, I may also be enough on the old school side of fandom that I really don't see what shipping and canon really have to do with each other anyway. Never did quite understand the push to have ships made canon or the wailing when canon goes in a different direction from a favored ship.

Clint/Natasha is utterly out of the picture? Time to go full Sam/Natasha, I guess. I'm aware that the movies are trying to go Bruce/Natasha but I don't intend on seeing AoU so my ship will sail on in my mind.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I'm all for ship and let ship, but this shit took up literally half of the Agents of SHIELD AO3 tag for months, even after the show had been airing for a while. It was just obnoxious and also blatantly Pair the Spares/white dudeslash. Sooooo I admit, I was laughing in my head during the movie.

Look, I ship a ton of femslash ships, I get shipping non-canon things, but I never went around claiming Natasha and Pepper were secretly fucking. (Actually, a better comparison would be Maria and Natasha since they've interacted like twice. Just like Coulson and Clint!)
