It might be. They made her change her hairstyle during the war because factory workers were copying her iconic hairstyle and it was contributing to accidents. This may have been from a safety campaign.

(My favorite hairstyle is almost exactly like Veronica Lake's and when I wear it I get entangled in something several times a day. I cackled really hard when I scrolled down and saw that image :P)

That's such a great find! Ironic given that Marilyn Monroe became famous for glammed up shots of her working in a factory with long hair.

I think Lake's long hairdo was more worrisome because she tended to wear it cascading down over one eye-- and if you're leaning down towards machinery with hair falling down in front...!

I once chopped my hair into the salad I was leaning over to make, no joke. If it had been machinery like spinning blender blades it would have ended a lot worse.
