Today's standards of portraying women as weak babies who can't handle things like clapping, jokes, or sources? Or the standards that encompass the whole "women can choose whatever they want unless they choose to be a stay at home mom or enjoy BDSM or watch porn"? Or the feminists who say that transwomen are just men trying to infiltrate women spaces or transmen are gender traitors?

don't care about the rest of your post, b/c you're trying to pick a fight and I don't really give a shit, but I honestly don't even know what you're trying to refer to here

like, wtf, "clapping, jokes, or sources"? what is that in reference to

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

I think they mean the "triggered by everything" strawman feminist

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Emphasis on the "strawman" here.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really, they exist in spades. Look at the woman who got PTSD because of cyberbullies on Twitter.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
....getting tons and tons of vivid detialed death and rapes threats every day isn't a big deal to you because it's done....online? Jesus fuck you have issues.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-24 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Spoken like someone who's never been harassed online in their life.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Excuse you, you mean 'strawwomyn'

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It's in reference to a 4chan false-flag. I was in the thread when they tried to make 'triggered by clapping' a thing, and it probably would have worked if anonymous hadn't lost interest.

Recent feminist conference said ppl should not clap because someone might be triggered.

Jokes: see Donglegate

Sources: see feels > facts. Or the fact that many tumblr feminists spout bullshit statistics and when called out say it isn't their job to educate you. Or tell you idiotic things like the dictionary doesn't count because a white guy wrote it (actually a group of people wrote the more modern version including a black woman but that'd require them researching)

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
ah, thanks for explaining what you meant

you're a fucking idiot

... donglegate? Dare I ask what this was?

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Google it. Nothing perverted unless you are a puritan from the 1700s or that woman.

Considering how severely harassed the woman from Donglegate was, I think it's men who can't take a joke.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, to be fair, I've been seeing a LOT of unsourced shit on Tumblr. Someone even once tried to claim using JPG was superior to PNG which, just... nnnnnno.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
god damn feminists

they've gone too far this time. trying to push inferior image file formats on us? UNACCEPTABLE

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

You know, I was citing an example of how reblogging unsourced stuff tends to get traction, but if you want to just be a smartarse and HURR DURR your way around and not engage meaningfully, go right ahead.

Well, JPEG is more compact, so I understand why certain web developers use it. But it's so lossy!

Yeah, this person was trying to claim you should use JPG for desktop publishing.

Which....

There was a feminist conference recently that apparently asked delegates not to clap in case it triggered people, and to wave their hands instead.

Am I the only one who sees that as reasonable? Back in high school, we had a guest speaker who was one of the Little Rock Nine, and we couldn't applaud for her because she actually was triggered by clapping. Some of the people most suited to speak about bigotry and hatred are people who've been permanently impacted by them.

I kinda feel like if you have someone who needs unusual accommodations then that's one thing and it's perfectly cool to be upfront about it.

But randomly being like "let's not clap unless it triggers someone" is kind of dumb, because clapping is an extremely normal and expected thing.
