Re: Things you liked as a kid no one else seems to have heard of
(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)They made me so damn hungry. I never realized they were exercise PSAs. I just wanted the fucking Gopher Cakes. But no one seems to remember those commercials (at least in real life).

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah, I've definitely never seen those, but wow they are deliciously 90's.
Re: Things you liked as a kid no one else seems to have heard of
(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)Gopher Cakes just looked fucking awesome. A bunch of friends chowing down on delicious cakes, covering them with whipped cream and then passing out due to a food/sugar coma looked AWESOME to me.
Not to mention that catchy song -- I STILL remember it after all these years (OPEN WIDE, STUFF YOUR FACE, THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM FOR MORE GOPHER CAKES!).
At the end they just had some random dude say "Exercise" on a black screen and I NEVER understood the connection.
Just...was I dumb or was this a seriously flawed commercial? Because I totally took the OPPOSITE meaning that they wanted out of it.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)Just looked them up, and if I had watched that as a kid I would most likely only think "CHOCOLATE!!!". Exercise would most likely not be on my mind at all.
