You're probably not going to get a place anywhere in CA that's cheap, safe, no commute, and no room mates.

If you want cheap, it's going to be not safe, or have room mates or have a huge commute.

If you want safe, it's going to be expensive and you'll probably have room mates.

If you want to not drive, see above.

From what I've been told, unless you're made of money or you plan on getting a job that makes over $60k, year, living alone in a good part of any city in CA is expensive as shit and you're not going to be able to do it.

Probably more accurate to say "any city in the SF or LA metro areas" rather than "any city in California"

True. On the other hand I was just going off of where the OP listed, which is where my friends have lived (I also have people in SF and LA so I know it's definitely true of those areas) and I've heard it's basically becoming as bad in other major cities due to gentrification.

Nah, it was a fair generalization, as there's only like 2 half-decent cities that aren't part of the broad SF and LA areas (Sacramento and San Diego) (sorry people from Fresno and Bakersfield)

For real, lol. I've been just about everywhere in CA and there's no way I'd ever want to live there.

Sorry OP.

Eh, Norcal is just as expensive at least the big cities are.
