What you're really looking for with a phone is something with GPS. If your 4G service doesn't work, the idea is you'll at least be able to track yourself. (I personally tested my own phone in an area with no service. It took around 4 minutes but the GPS still worked.)

I'm not entirely sure this would be the same for you with your phone model, especially if it's older.

There are outdoor sports companies that specifically rent out portable GPS devices for longer term camping/hiking/boating trips though, so if your phone isn't an option look into one of those. They're usually super cheap because having one is better than getting lost and needing a search party to come find you.

Oh then I should be fine. I remember saving a bunch of google maps in case of taking detours to Canmore, and gps was great for that.
