I thought that was the point of her character though? That the best conquerors don't always make for the best rulers, no matter how good their heart?

I think we're meant to see her as young and learning. I don't necessarily think we're meant to think she'll always be a bad ruler, though, she's just young and learning and messing up a lot along the way.

That's how I interpreted it, too. I mean, I come from reading the books, though, in which Dany is actually quite a bit younger, so if you just take the actions and age her up, it looks... a lot worse.

Yeah, I don't know why anyone would think she is a good leader. Her campaign(s) were disasters! Unless she has a serious learning curve, I can't see her being a good leader in the future, either.

Or have you just missed all the implications that she's potentially turning out as crazy as her father (and all crazy Targaryans before them)? Or the fact that her youth and inexperience mean she still has the potential to learn from all her mistakes?

Though I can see why you might not have gotten it at first. Her tumblr fandom is hellbent on removing any trace of Dany's flaws and substituting it for 'flawless queen', which makes her boring as shit.

Watching, I don't know. I don't know the whole fandom and I refuse to make a judgment on it. I haven't seen people who really think that tho.

A lot of the people in show who think she has potential have, thus far, been a whole continent away from her. They've yet to see her ruling firsthand.

A lot of them also have their own motives for wanting to push her as a good ruler whether or not she is.

They're meant to think/assume/pretend she's an amazing ruler. It's called a plot device. Because these are all characters doing what the writer wants them to do to carry on the narrative.

Do you just not understand a thing you're watching, or...?

The characters in show that support Dany have no idea what it's like across the sea aside from Jorah and Barristan. No one in Season Five that resides in Meereen seems to think she's an 'awesome leader' at this point.

Her fandom is obnoxious about assuming she'd be a great leader, though. I'll give you that.

Or they think she's a better option than the other options currently on the table. Compared to Joffrey and Cersei she is an awesome leader. Sometimes it's about choosing the least bad option. And Stannis isn't seen as a good one by most of the characters.

I mean, people thought Mussolini was a good leader, despite the fact that he was a clown. Politics are funny like that sometimes.

I don't know about the people watching it, though. That's probably pretty silly if people do think that.

When it comes to Dany, I think some people are confusing "conqueror" with "leader", when they aren't necessarily interchangeable.

In the first two series I was rooting for her to rise to power, return to Westeros and claim the Iron Throne. But lately I'm looking forward to seeing everyone turn on her so she can realize her mistake.

I also think she treats her dragon-kitties badly. Yeah, lock up the two that didn't hurt anyone. That's smart.

Well, yes, that's the point of the character. She has good intentions but ruling isn't as easy as that.
