Which complaints, though? I've seen several from different perspectives, some with more legitimacy than others.

Probably the butthurt MRA's.

Thank you. I couldn't agree more.

I do still love that it's Aidan Gillen in that scene

such a random actor to be in a bit part that randomly blows up into a meme

Can you explain the meme to me? As pop culture savvy as I think I am, I managed to miss out on that one.

Other person's link doesn't work, but basically, as I understand it, a bunch of people started obsessing over a very minor exchange in a specific scene of Batman: Dark Knight Rises between Aidan Gillen as a CIA agent and Bane. And it just sort of developed from there.

You seem shocked at the idea that people could ever complain about something they know absolutely nothing about.

Have you only just found the internet?

Never watched the movie...

(Anonymous) 2015-05-30 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
...but supposedly it's a slam against Occupy Wallstreet? The message of the movie supports the wealthy elite, with Batman as their millionaire hero?

I've never seen the movie before, so maybe the above is not true. But I have seen the previous two movies in the trilogy, and they did tackle issues like the NSA surveillance controversy in it's own form (Morgan Freeman was pissed at Batman for hacking into everybody in Gotham's cellphone in order to find the Joker), and was pro-government surveillance. It also romanticized Batman as someone that the law doesn't apply to, with legal laws presented as a hindrance and nuissance that prevents Batman from being able to stop the bad guy, or do cool stuff, which is a pretty right wing way to look at them.

There are legitimate reasons to complain about the film, but I hope people are complaining about the politics, instead of something stupid like how an actor wears an obnoxious color of tie or something. :p

You know, in retrospect, it was really weird that Batman was in post-apocalyptic Australia to begin with.
