The thing about Susan not going to Heaven at the end of the Last Battle is... she's not dead yet, so obviously she isn't going to Heaven. Everybody else was killed in a train crash, but she's okay.

I always figured she'd go when it was her time, though. Once a king or queen in Narnia, always a king or queen in Narnia. Plus, a tumblr user whose name I forget points out that Aslan DID tell them all to grow up in their own world and come to know him as Jesus instead--the other kids still seemed extremely wrapped up in Narnia, but Susan was at least trying to grow up in her own world (we don't know whether she's come to know him as Jesus instead, it's never said, but I like to think she does, just because I like the idea of her being Aslan's final success story).

I liked The Last Battle. I know a lot of people don't, but I did, and I feel like it had a positive effect on me as a kid.

I agree with a lot of this. I think most people get hung up on Polly's words about Susan, and them meaning that Susan having an interest in feminine things means she won't go to heaven (when Lewis states it's the fact that she's let material concerns take over her life).

I agree that she will likely get into heaven in the end. I feel like the reason she was left alive was so she had a chance to find her path again, and I'm sure Aslan would've helped her find it if need be (I would love to read that).

I also enjoyed The Last Battle. I didn't think I would but I really liked Tirian and seeing all the old characters again.

DA

this whole convo is making me feel so much better about The Last Battle, so thank you nonnies for that!

And now I have a sudden urge to read fix-it-fic of Susan running into Aslan again in the "real world" and having to go back to Narnia to do queen stuff.

+1. These are all really good ways to think about Susan. I feel better now too.
