Text: I don't understand the hate for the reboot.
CGI works better these days than puppets would. It allows for a lot more realism in the action as well; you can actually see them walking, running, jumping... doing things instead of just sitting or "moving" from the waist-up.
I think people are just setting the bar too high for a KID'S SHOW and expecting brilliance right off the bat. It was never going to be the next Farscape or Battlestar Galactica. Letting it get past the teething stage and seeing if it's on the level of, say, MLP would only be fair.

B!S I'm an adult and I think it's brill. A nice bit of nostalgia, brought into the 21st Century.

Maybe because the marionettes look better than that rendering? Yuck. IMHO it's pretty offputting.

Yeah OP, it has issues like pacing and such, but I love it so much. Also, their Alan is better than classic and movie Alan.
EOS is best episode, we need more EOS. And Virgil is husbando.

OK, first off; OP, fuck you.
Second, Tanusha "Kayo" Kyrano, who is Tin-Tin but better and with a less lawsuitable name.

I find the cgi a bit creepy on this one.

Pretty sure I've said this before, but this reminds me of Team America. For that reason alone I see how it might be off putting to people, lol.

I thought it was Team America

I'm not usually one to rag on CG but holy crap those characters veer into uncanny valley for me, I get that they're trying to emulate the old puppet look but... I find them really off-putting.

I caught an episode of the original forever ago and I loved the puppets! CG just doesn't have the same charm and who cares if we can see them walk?

(Anonymous) 2015-05-31 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I enjoy it, especially as they kept the miniatures (thanks to Weta Workshops). I don't really mind the CGI, as it looks much better in movement than in stills.

It's already been renewed for a second season OP, so it looks like you're not alone in enjoying it!

Good news! Thanks :D

I love it too, OP!! It's just so nice to have some more Thunderbirds.
Sure, it has its differences, and maybe the CGI isn't to everyone's taste, but the models are amazing and the whole thing is FAB *g*

I feel the same way, OP! I just wish it wasn't broadcast at a ridiculous time on a Saturday, so I didn't have to record it.

The nostalgia factor is through the roof, and even though it feels modern, it still feels like Thunderbirds. (Also, Virgil saving the day every week makes everything better).

Only problem is that it's making me want to rewatch the old series in full, when I don't have the time for it!
