Am I reading this right? Katie always seemed popular with the fandom to me.

I thought Angel and Colin were easily the most talented, and I'm sad neither's career has really gone anywhere.

There was some Katie hate but yeah, it was nothing compared to the Angel hate. Now that I'm remembering, there was a fair amount of abuse hurled at Bradley too, especially when he started dating Georgia. I'd say only Colin got treated respectfully by the fandom.

Where was all of this hate? Like, did I actually miss this? I was in Merlin fandom from start to finish and I did not see this. I was in the main MerlinxArthur comm; was it on other comms that this took place?

You're lucky to have missed it, but I remember it getting really nasty at one point. Angel was targeted for being the love interest interfering with a popular slash pairing, and Katie was disliked for Morgana's constant smirking. Even Bradley got hassled since he was the only one with a Twitter account.

In my experience it was one person in particular who had a real chip on her shoulder regarding Angel/Katie, and who seemed to be making awful comments about them EVERYWHERE. You just couldn't get away.

Jeez. I'm glad I missed it. That would have harshed my squee in a major way. I mean, I pretty much hated how embarrassingly shoehorned in Gwen suddenly was and, aside from a few really well-done adorable moments between them, actively pretended that Arthur/Gwen did not exist, but spewing vitriol is quite another thing.

I will never understand the vendetta against actors for the things characters in a story do. People are weird.
