What's the longest time you've slept straight through?

[personal profile] sarillia 2015-05-30 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Noodles saying up there that he slept for 13 hours made me wonder exactly how unusual I am with all the problems that have made me sleep a lot over the years. I think my record is 21 hours spent asleep. I don't remember exactly because what I do remember is that it was the day we set the clocks back and I did that the night before, so I forgot if the 21 hours I remember was before or after adding in the extra hour that got set back.

Anyway, I'm just curious to see some other numbers.

16, due to having done a lot of manual labor the day before. I'm generally someone who likes to sleep a lot, so sleeping for 10-11 hours straight isn't unusual for me, though.

Straight through without even waking up, turning over and going back to sleep? Not long, maybe four or five hours max, but then I'm normally a fairly disturbed sleeper anyway (regular sleep for me is about 7 hours, but I think I only get good sleep for about five of those, the rest is mostly dozing back and forth).

If you include the brief waking up/going back to sleep thing, maybe 12-14 hours occasionally.

If you include getting up once or twice for bathroom breaks or a glass of water etc., I've done 18-20 hours once or twice, usually after being awake for long periods of time beforehand.

I don't think I've ever slept more than 10 hours at a time. (Probably not even that, tbh. Maybe 9?)

And I fucking love sleep, but...it just doesn't happen.

Then again, I wake up at 7 or earlier even on days when I have jack shit to do.

I think 12-14 is my most. I distinctly remember coming back from Japan to the East Coast US and then running nonstop for three days. Jetlag caught up with me, I was going to just take a nap at 6PM, still in my day clothes, bam! Woke up at 6am.

Depends. Am I allowed to have woken up to stumble to the bathroom and then gone immediately back to bed without having woken fully up? If so, around 32 hours. I tend to sleep only 3-6 hours a night. Every once in awhile my body rebels (especially if I'm under stress and/or sick. This time was in high school. I'd just had a science competition that I don't even really remember the award ceremony for, other than getting my picture taken, and I started to doze in the car on the way home. I missed the entire next day of school because my mother couldn't wake me up, and I woke up on my own Saturday morning.

That has only happened three times in many years, though, and the other two weren't quite as spectacular. Usually when I "crash" it is only 10-12 hours.

I sleep a lot but I don't sleep a lot in one burst. However one time while I was in France I slept for 17 hours resetting my sleeping schedule back to USA time. However, typically I sleep 6-8 hours and then have a 30 min to 2 hour nap depending on the type of day I'm having/my work schedule. Like Friday I was super stressed and ended up taking almost a 3 hour nap.

I believe my record is 15 hours while at college. I don't recall that I did anything particularly strenuous the day before either. I must have just really needed to catch up on my sleep. College, man.
