I cry at fanvids all the damn time, but to be fair a lot of the fanvids I watch are pretty emotional. Nostalgia for the fandom can definitely have an effect though!

Merlin was my first fandom

Merlin was like my...idek, 20th probably, lol. So by the time Merlin finished I was used to things I enjoyed ending. It does suck, but I think it gets easier the more it happens.

Once upon a time (with SGA, and before that LOTR) I had a hard time letting go too, but fandoms are going to lose activity when canon is over. Sometimes I wish there was a way to prevent it.

Yea :/ I tried getting more involved in other fandoms but it just didn't work. I think have RL pick up so much (i.e graduating from uni, starting graduate school, working full time, etc) certainly contributed to my not being as invested.

Still, I yearn for the good old days. Those were good times.

That's understandable! It's much easier to focus on one fandom than to dip your toe into several at once. (I know from experience.) In that regard it's also easier to keep up with ones that aren't quite as active, but of course if you like the thing you want there to be activity.

We all do, man. We all do. :(

As soon as I find the Peaky Blinders fandom, I'm diving in head first. Cuz that's the first thing to grip my heart like Merlin did and I am in looooooove.

I haven't watched that yet, but it is in my Netflix queue! It has a great cast and all the Netflix originals I've tried have been interesting, so I want to give it a shot.

(It also seems like it would be extremely stylish and full of eye-candy, which never hurts.)
