I believe Chinese raw refers to the Chinese printing of the comic, which a lot of scanlation companies use.

yes, but "raw" means the original, even if the scan is an official translation, it's not a "raw"

it annoys me because the implication is that Chinese and Japanese are the same language and it leads to poor quality "telephone" translations. (Japanese > Chinese > English makes for a lot of lost context and meaning.)
