(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)You know how Steve says in The First Avenger that he doesn't want to kill anyone. And he uses a shield primarily as a weapon. Well, when you watch the scene on the train, you'll notice that Steve knocks the big gun dude down, but he eventually gets back up and ends up blasting Bucky off the train which leads to his fall.
If Steve had killed him, Bucky wouldn't have fallen and become the Winter Soldier.
You'll notice afterwards too that Steve says "I'm not gonna stop til all of Hydra's dead or captured" and when he's on the Valkyrie, he's A LOT more brutal with people. He literally just throws them out of the plane or uses knives.
I always found that pretty interesting.
But I agree with you that having Steve be too perfect would be a bummer.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 12:03 am (UTC)(link)I really don't think not killing people is him fucking up. I actually wish they didn't change that from the comics.
Heroes don't fucking kill people.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 12:10 am (UTC)(link)I don't really agree that heroes don't kill. I think a hero should always strive to do everything in their power not to kill but I do think there are situations where it would be immoral NOT to kill. If some guy's holding a gun to a kid's head, you do whatever it takes to protect that kid, even if it means killing his aggressor.

We want to see Steve royally fuck up. His morals and righteous attitude end up making things really difficult for The Avengers or almost impossible. Or it makes the public see them in a worse light or something. SOMETHING that will make Steve see the other side and maybe help to compromise as opposed to fighting it entirely.
Idk.
