Eh, in that fic, I agree, but while it's very difficult to do right, I hae seen it done: that Cody Nelson fic I linked twice upthread and one or two by Regann made it work, imo.

Okay, now I am curious. Although the only person I can truly ship Kaiba with is his own and only Blue Eyes.

Good! though I warn you, that Cody fic will pretty much spoil you for anything else (it is, imo, really that good.)

(I suppose it does depend on what your tolerance for tormented Kaiba is, though: he's really a wreck in both fics as a result of his defeats.)
