Everyone is always surprised I like opera and...you know how like dudes will need test girls to prove they really not fans? People we do that to me to prove that I don't like opera??? And so what if I can't name more than a couple of artists? I can't do that for any genre of music! Doesn't stop me from enjoying the music any less????

That shit is always annoying, but I feel like classical & opera are by far the worst genres for it, because there's just so many artists, composers, etc, and also because the fans seem to place SO much emphasis on being an Expert and shit. Just the worst.

Ahh yes. The reason I tend not to discuss orchestral music. Apparently a passing interest is Not Allowed and if that's what you have you're just such a poser and shouldn't be sharing the air with people with ~real~ music taste.
