Text: I wish I didn’t find well-written RPF more impressive than other similarly well-written fanfic. A lot of times, the characters are basically fancast OCs with references thrown in, especially in AUs!
I’m ok with liking both!
But why the hell am I more easily impressed by RPF? Subconscious condescension? Props for authors being able to handle the different nature of RPF fandom?

It's okay, there's nothing wrong with it. But sometimes, it's what happens.

A lot of RPF is basically original fiction, just casted with the actors and actresses you love. When it's good, I respect that kind of RPF the way I would a traditional novel, not like I would fic. It just feels like two related but different kinds of creativity.
