A friend of mine was sexually assaulted by another (now ex-) friend of mine. They were drunk and I was at the same party. I even knocked on the door. I still wish I'd followed my gut and gone in, or at least waited to hear something from her instead of giggling at what I thought was sneaky party shenanigans and wandering off again.

You didn't know. It's horrible, but I think from now on if you have your friend's back and you've cut the offender out of your social circle, you're doing the best that's possible under the circumstances.
