For me, much of what I've read of Alan Moore (LXG, Watchmen, V for Vendetta), it falls into a category I have regarding certain works called "Good But Gives Me Very Little Pleasure to Read." The writer in me can appreciate the massive scope of what he's doing and the skill and craft involved, but the reader in me is just left cold.

Except regarding Valerie's Letter in V for Vendetta. That gets me every single damn time.

I honestly adored Watchmen, but can see where you're coming from. It is perfectly normal to recognize that there's a certain level of skill involved, but for the stories and characters (and general tone) to not mesh with your tastes.

And I imagine these comics aren't the kind you read when you want a pick-me-up. Watchmen certainly wasn't, and going by what I know from the others...

At least you found something to appreciate out of his work?
