Hmm, I had heard that V was amazing and League was lots of fun, but "cold and indifferent darkfic" doesn't sound like fun. I would still like to give it a try just to see what it's like, but that doesn't sound promising.

Well, it's a spoof, yeah? So it's "fun" but in a mean way. Like, "This beloved character from another book was actually raised in a brothel, ha ha, now what do you think of her? Now after that one panel we'll never see her again, but wasn't that funny?"

Mr Hyde is really different from in Stevenson's book, I think, and kind of generic, and I think maybe he eats people? And the main cast end up kind of being played for fools, and in one of the sequels a sort of Harry Potter expy is a bad guy, and it's just...

They put some work into it, but it's sort of a bunch of rude jokes. So, fun? Depends on your sense of humour. It's probably either fun or insulting.

I think twisted retellings can work (If the writing is strong), but if you want a more traditional adaption I understand that.

Having not read it I can't comment on the humor, but depending on how it's carried out I could see it being unnecessarily dark and offensive, or clever and interesting. Don't know which, but I would at least hope the cast is likable... Sounds like you feel he failed that too. :(
