I wish their relationship had been a been more polished. The movie as a whole felt strangely paced and clunky, which JW says was due to executive meddling. Otherwise I had very little issue with how they were written, and I didn't think either of them were out of character. It was a fledgling romance that imploded before it ever really got going, and I found it to be a really interesting portrait of a bruised pair who cared a lot about each other but weren't in a position to do anything about it.

Apparently this makes me, at worst, an abuse apologist/enabler, or at best, a wrong idiot who's wrong.
