I feel the same, but more on the side of the potential hope she could've given him as a dying old man instead of the other way around. Some of his last words where he was bemoaning the fact that he couldn't be there to help her and how his last days were meaningless because of it really got to me.

Meanwhile Dany doesn't even know he was alive. I feel more sorry for the loss of Barristan on her side of things.
