I don't think having a preference is policing. Go ahead and have opinions on how people look. Just don't act like those opinions are any more important than anyone else's and especially not that they're more important than the opinions of the person you're talking about, or like what you're saying is a fact or rule. I think you're okay.

This. It's okay to think that someone looks good with a certain hair color. As long as OP wasn't tweeting her or something and telling her how badly she looked as a brunette, I don't see an issue.

Exactly. This (preferring a certain hairstyle, color, etc on someone) is a common thing and you shouldn't feel weird or guilty about it. (Unless you are actively tweeting the actress telling her she looks ugly and awful and should dye her hair back, then you have a problem. I seriously doubt that is what is happening here so you are all good.)

I think she looks better as a blonde too. Maybe a lighter brunette would have looked okay, but as much as I adore Sanctuary, the dark color just didn't look natural or quite right.

I'm going to be weird and say I think it depends on the hair length (why should that matter? IDK.) I like her hair better blonde when it's short, but I didn't like it long and blonde. But I liked the long brunette hair she had in Sanctuary.

Hm. I can see that.

The way I see it, she's an actress, and the characters have different hair colours. Fans just got used to short-blonde Sam, and are surprised that Amanda Tapping doesn't necessarily look like that.
