I think it's still fine to like it, I suspect there might come a time when its not shown though, that tends to be what happens with media after these sorts of scandal.
In Britain you can be tried for historical sex abuse, I find it so strange how you can't in the U.S but I understand this means Cosby won't be tried.
Anyhow point is the men who've been imprisoned, well their work is never seen again. Gary Gltiter and Rolf Harris being cases in point.

A person can be a great artist and a criminal, it's happened before..

Anon might have caught an ep on YouTube, given that Cosby's shows HAVE been pulled off of traditional US media once the scandal broke.

OP

Actually, I own them. I've been a fan of the show for a long time. And now I wonder if people will judge me if they see them in my house...

A person has both good and bad in them, and whatever his faults, Cosby did a lot of good.

He drugged and raped a lot of women. Also sold his child down the river (when a tabloid was going to run a story about his drugging and raping women he traded details of his daughter's drug arrest to get off the hook). That is more important than whatever entertainment value he may have imparted.

It was a good show. And I still his stand ups funny. *shrug*

I still like Roman Polanski and Klaus Kinski's stuff. Sure, the connotation is there, but I never think about it once the movie starts.

Polanski is a great director, and Kinski a great actor. Absolutely.

I really like Ghost. He still makes good films.

I will never pay money to see anything by Polanski but I will not hesitate to watch his films. He's a dirty bastard who should rot in hell but he's a damn good director and deserves accolades... with an asterisk.

(That said, his pseudo-Tony Blair conspiracy movie had the dumbest, most infuriating ending and I wanted to smack him for that separate from beating him up for being a rapist.)

I noticed that young actresses used to show up on his show with some regularity who a) weren't very talented and b) had poorly-written characters with no personality who didn't really fit into the plot of the show. It creeps me out now in hindsight that maybe they were there because they had been victimized by him and were being bribed into keeping their mouths shut. (shudders)

(Anonymous) 2015-06-08 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
It's possible but I really don't think so. There were a lot of other women around him who he didn't touch who still think he's great. I think he was careful with his targets. That's why we're only finding out about this now.

I'ave had a similar secret on my hard drive for months, OP. I'll never be able to unlove Bill Cosby and the Cosby show, but I still have deep trouble watching that show. The fact that his character is a gynecologist... yikes.

I'm a black male and as a kid, the Cosby Show let me see a family that looked like mine, and not just in terms of skin color. I always wanted to thank him for that. Now I'd only be able to say that he failed me as well as all the women he violated. But I'll still hold precious what he gave me and hope that I can do the same for others.

This is also why I'm so glad about Blackish. Some people (extreme black SJWs who don't know shit) are upset about that show but I think it's timing on TV could not be more perfect. It's filling in the void the Cosby Show left years ago and, with the success of Empire and all of Shonda Rhimes' work, we're experiencing a renaissance of black television.
