I didn't say they were trolling.

I mean, it could certainly be read as the implication, but...

(Joking aside, though, I'd unironically love to hear an argument in its defense. But I just honestly can't picture where it'd come from)

That's pretty much saying that they're trolling. If you're saying trolling is literally the ONLY reason someone would say something like that, you're basically accusing the person of being a troll.

I mean, TPM isn't my favorite, but I like it more than all of the original trilogy movies (and I love those films.)
